Bilingualism as a protective factor in age-related neurodegenerative disorders.

Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

The Bilingualism and Neurodegenerative Conditions (BANC) study investigated whether being bilingual in Welsh and English supports the maintenance of this type of mental abilities in later life and for people  affected by Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease, and delays the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
